
How we gained national coverage from the opening of a bridge...
We were bought in to plan, manage and deliver the inaugural Bridge Opening Ceremony at Peters Village, Kent. The event was to be held on what was effectively a building site. Due to the complexities of building the event venue in such unique surroundings we were required to research, select and manage all suppliers, oversee the event build and manage every aspect of its delivery.
Throughout the management of the project, I worked alongside the PA to the Chief Executive. We had regular catch ups to discuss the progress on the event in addition to face to face meetings with the event champion and key stakeholders.
The client wanted to deliver an event which provided the opportunity for special guests to have exclusive access to Peters Village site and be first on the Bridge. They also wanted to bring together the key contractors, specialists and industry experts from within the professional and local community to view the project. The event was held in a large marquee which was positioned so guests could view the bridge. Upon arrival guests were greeted and had the opportunity to view the exhibition and network. Keynote presentations were delivered by the host company and key stakeholders. Guests were then taken to the bridge for the formal cutting of the ribbon. Upon their return, guests were treated to a canape reception with entertainment provided by a jazz trio.
The event was captured by local BBC and ITV news teams. Local press also covered the story as well as local community groups that had an interest. Guest feedback was very positive, all the event objectives were met and above all the client was very pleased with its delivery and the impact it had. Here are some stats:
