Case Study: The Filter Exchange

Bringing together agency founders and thought leaders

It all starts with a brief

Born out of a desire to connect likeminded people together, the Filter Exchange was created to provide an informal environment for agency owners and founders to share knowledge, insights and best practice.

The Filter Exchange is hosted by agency owners and founders Oliver and Paul of Filter Digital. Paul and Oliver knew they wanted to bring their connections together to build a community that would offer support to other agency owners and founders.

They knew they wanted to run an event, but they didn’t have the time or the expertise to deliver on their vision. They therefore sought the experience of Sarah Halfpenny to develop and deliver the Exchange.

Key objectives

The key objectives to be met included:

  • Develop Insightful keynotes. Invite interesting speakers to share their experiences, valuable insight, stories’ and advice
  • Build a “Filter” community through personalised management of invitations and guests list
  • Create and host an event to allow people to meet, connect, discuss, debate and explore
  • Create valuable content to promote the Exchange

Event Delivery

"Thanks so much for inviting me last night, it was definitely one of the best events I have attended recently. Both speakers were truly inspirational – great to see them leading the way.”

Event Development

With clear objectives and budget parameters, Sarah set about building a list of contacts and connections whom would receive a personal handwritten event invitation. It was important that this event wasn’t seen as just another agency event. The invite list was a carefully curated list of like-minded agency owners and founders whom Olliver and Paul felt would gain both connections and insights.

The speakers and their content were also carefully selected to showcase noteworthy and thought-provoking projects, unique approaches and their experiences.

With a growing guest list, two remarkable speakers, venue selected, and the wine and food ordered, we were ready to set up and host the event.

The finished article!

With a carefully selected audience of 20 agency owners and founders in attendance, the event delivered on providing exclusive insights, unique approaches and plenty to talk about over drinks.

Both speakers shared exceptionally open and honest accounts of their work, their experience and their goals. It was this transparency and authenticity that allowed for open and honest discussion and genuine connections to be made.

Oliver Morrison said “We were so pleased with how our first Filter Exchange event went that we decided to run them on a regular basis. Those who came along certainly enjoyed hearing the unique perspectives of our keynote speakers. It was also encouraging to see our network of Agency Leaders connecting with each other and having valuable conversations”
