Case Study: Celebration Event

A wedding with a difference

It all starts with a brief

The client had approached us 14 months before the event date. The venue had been selected, Brixton East 1871, a nineteenth century old furniture warehouse.

The venue was a dry hire venue which meant that all catering, equipment, crockery, glass wear and décor needed to be hired in. With so many suppliers to manage on the day, the client needed specific assistance and support with coordinating the suppliers on-site and to manage the event itself.

Key objectives

We spent time with the client to help us understand the vision of the event. A final set of objectives for us were defined:

  • Create a sophisticated but relaxed drinks reception for 100 guests
  • Design a dining room which is functional yet stylish
  • Transform the reception into a party space for guests to dance the night away

Services that we provided

As part of this project, we engaged in the following work streams

Supplier Management

On-Site Delivery

"Sarah is a highly experienced event manager and we will use her again for other events we have in London. If you are thinking of hiring her, please go ahead and do it!"

The overall solution

The day before the event was spent setting up the dining room. The tables laid, seating plan set and deliveries met and checked.

On the day of the event, an early start ensured we could meet and greet all the suppliers, delivery’s and complete the finishing touches. The bar and serving staff arrived and given a full briefing to ensure each element of the event was fully supported.

Guests arrived on a London bus and where greeted with 2 inspired cocktails. A chat street food cart provided the main reception snacks accompanied by some delicious Indian canapes. Guests we treated to the wonderful sounds of the Swing Nights Jazz Band who played throughout.

Guests were then announced for dinner, a cheese fondue was served which created a fun and relaxed experience. Indian sweets, ice cream, cake and champagne were all then served to complete the meal.

With the DJ, confetti cannons and glitter balls at the ready, the guests then had a marathon party which went on to 4am!

The finished article!

This celebration event had a wonderful feel about it throughout. It was structured, with a timed schedule of service and entertainment but the event took on a timescale that flowed from one element to the next. Our job was to ensure we responded with a seamless guest experience.

  • 100 guests attended
  • 200 cocktails created
  • 20 cheese fondues served
  • 388 sweet treats consumed
  • Over 100 dance tracks played!
