The FILTER EXCHANGE went live!!

by Sarah Halfpenny

I am proud to be working with the talented team at Filter Digital, developing their new event programme, the Filter Exchange! Here is a quick event review of how their first event went.

An audience of Agency Founders and Owners came together for a late afternoon exchange on Thursday 16th May at Filters HQ in Soho.

Born out of a desire to connect likeminded people together, the Filter Exchange has been created to provide a relaxed environment for agency leaders to share knowledge, insights and experiences.

The hand-picked audience were carefully chosen to ensure the most relevant connections were made across both technical and creative specialisms. With 12 Agency’s in the room, there was an impressive mix of expertise representing both technical and creative specialism from digital performance, web testing, App design, PR, creative, cultural analysis and communications.

Once everyone had arrived and got themselves a beer, the audience had the opportunity to introduce themselves to each other. Our two guest speakers, Lucy Mann and Puff Story then shared their insights and expertise.
Lucy Mann of Gunpowder Consulting spoke about how she supports Agency’s in managing their pipeline. How to avoid that slow curve of disappointment and avoiding the rollercoaster ride which many Agency’s face. Lucy provided some valuable tips into managing new business. She spoke about the importance of creating lean and workable plans to track and measure new and existing prospects. She championed the use of Sales Navigator, to help build and nurture customer relationships and how marginal gains theory can positively impact your business growth and development.

Puff Story of 3 SIDED CUBE shared her valuable insights into how they build ‘tech for good’. To demonstrate their philosophy of only creating apps that have a positive purpose, she shared some key case studies including a blood tracking app. This Webby Award-winning app allows users to sign up and book an appointment but crucially users can then track where their blood went and how it was used. Puff also shared the Agency’s approach to innovation. Providing team members dedicated time to work on ideas that will have a social impact or enhance their personal development. Through this initiative, many ideas have eventually contributed to pitch processes and won work.

The openness and honesty with which both Lucy and Puff presented, was really appreciated by the audience and opened up some great conversations. In fact, so much so that the drinks and networking continued for a further 2 hours!

Both CTO, Paul Halfpenny and CEO, Oliver Morrison, were delighted with how the event was received and the connections that were made.

Oliver Morrison said “We are so pleased with how our first Filter Exchange event went. Both Lucy and Puff shared their experiences, valuable insight, stories’ and advice ,which was hugely valuable to our audience. It was also encouraging to see our network of Agency Leaders connecting with each other and having valuable conversations.

With such positive feedback, we will be hosting another Filter Exchange Event on the 5th September with the fabulously talented Emma Sexton CEO of MYWW and founder of the Inside Out Awards to talk about ‘redesigning business as usual’.
